Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Unhooked App ("Unhooked," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Unhooked mobile app and the website at unhookedapp.co.

Last updated: June 12, 2026

1. Our approach to your privacy

Unhooked supports recovery from compulsive pornography use. The information you share with us is sensitive, and we treat it that way. We do not sell your personal information, we do not use advertising or third-party tracking technologies, and we do not operate public profiles, public streaks, or any feature that exposes your recovery data to other users. Your data is private to your account.

2. Information we collect

We collect the following information, which is stored under your account and synced to our database so it is available across your devices. We do not read your private entries as part of normal operations; we access stored content only where necessary to operate or support the service, or where required by law (see Section 7).

  • Account information: your name and email address, used to create and secure your account.
  • Onboarding responses: answers you provide when setting up the app, which include information about your pornography use and related behaviors — such as frequency of use, urges, the age you were first exposed, emotional and stress-related triggers, financial spending related to the behavior, the areas of life you feel it has affected, prior attempts to change, and your goals. This is sensitive information about your sexual and behavioral wellbeing, and we collect it only to personalize your experience in the app.
  • Check-ins and urge logs: your daily check-in status, mood, urge counts, and records of when you use the in-app urge support tools and their outcomes.
  • Journal entries and reflections: free-text writing you enter in the app, including reflections tied to lessons and to the 14-day reset. This is private prose, never shown to other users.
  • Progress and usage within the app: meditation sessions, lesson and course progress, and milestones you reach.
  • Preferences and subscription status: your notification preferences and whether you have an active subscription. Subscription status is provided to us by our payments provider.
  • Support messages: the contents of any message you send us for support.

Some information stays only on your device and is never uploaded to our servers, including your profile photo, your 14-day reset state, and cached audio. Where the app requests permission to access your photo library, it is only to set a profile photo stored locally on your device.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to provide and operate the app, personalize your recovery experience, save your progress across devices, manage your subscription, respond to support requests, keep the service secure and reliable, and meet our legal obligations. We do not use your personal recovery data to train advertising systems or to profile you for marketing.

4. Notifications

With your permission, the app sends reminders and encouragement notifications. These are scheduled locally on your device. Notification content is deliberately written to be neutral and does not reveal the nature of the app or your activity on a lock screen. You can turn notifications on or off at any time in the app or in your device settings.

5. Service providers

We share information only with the providers needed to run the service, and only the information they need for their role:

  • Supabase — hosts our database and manages account authentication, storing the account and app data described above.
  • RevenueCat — manages subscription purchases and receipts, and provides us your subscription status using an app-specific identifier.
  • Apple — processes in-app purchases through the App Store. Your payment details are handled by Apple, not by us.

We do not use analytics SDKs, advertising networks, or third-party tracking technologies. We do not track you across other apps or websites.

6. Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. You can delete your account and its associated data at any time from within the app's settings. Deleting your account removes your personal data from our systems, subject to any retention we are legally required to maintain.

7. Security and access to your data

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our hosting provider, and access controls restrict your data to your own account, so other users cannot see it.

Your private content is not end-to-end encrypted. This means our service can technically access stored content where necessary to operate the service, provide support, or comply with the law. We limit access to these purposes and do not read your private entries as part of normal operations.

No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Research

We do not currently use your data for research. If we introduce any research use in the future, it will be strictly opt-in: it will only apply to users who have explicitly consented, and we will update this policy before any such use begins.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise account deletion directly in the app, and you can contact us at the address below for any other request. [Add or adjust this section to reflect GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA obligations as confirmed by a privacy professional.]

10. Children

Unhooked is intended only for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, please contact us so we can remove it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.

12. Contact

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or your data, contact us at unhookedapp@outlook.com.

This policy is governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION].
